VINTAGE rick
It
was nearly unimaginable back then: Israelis and Palestinians
shaking hands on the White House lawn. It's even harder
to imagine now. Remember September of '93 in this Vintage

Can she hang onto Texas?
You Can Talk About Your Clementine...
By Rick Horowitz
There's
a yelling rose in Texas, that I am going to see,
Her name
is Rodham Clinton, they call her Hill-a-ree,
She battles
with the best of them, just listen to her shout,
But her
polls are running backwards and her time is running out.
She's the sturdiest of flowers, she bends but never breaks,
She's ready
for a struggle, for anything it takes,
You can
talk about New England states, and even O-hi-o,
But she'd
better carry Texas or it's time for her to go.
Once upon a time
this rosebud was standing tall and proud,
She traveled
'cross the country, she said to ev'ry crowd,
"When I
become your president" -- no ifs or ands or buts,
And it
didn't even matter that some people hate her guts.
She's the sturdiest
of flowers, she bends but never breaks,
She's always
on her message, she never makes mistakes,
She's a
juggernaut in action, of course she's going to win --
Now she'd
better carry Texas or she takes it on the chin.
She was
counting on a cakewalk, but then she got a shock,
Her rear-view
mirror was empty, then suddenly Barack,
He caught
her, then he passed her, he left her in the dust,
So she's
down to final chances and the Lone Star State's a must.
She's the sturdiest
of flowers, she bends but never breaks,
She can't
believe she's losing to amateurs and fakes,
Watch her
wow 'em in McAllen, and San Antonio,
So she'd
better carry Texas or she'll really have to go.
Now
the days are growing precious, the hours are growing short,
She's rallying
her forces, she's pleading for support,
A dream
she's had forever, she'll chase it town to town,
She'll
live to fight another day or have to shut it down.
She's the
sturdiest of flowers, she bends but never breaks,
The wind
is getting stronger, the ground around her quakes,
She can
"coulda, woulda, shoulda," and speak of might-have-been,
But she'd
better carry Texas or there's nothing left to spin.
